San Diego - Day 1 - We have arrived!

Our flight was at 8:30am so we got up, woke CeCe up, and headed to the airport. I wanted to get there with enough time to get through security but not with so much time that we would have to wait to board the plane. We utilized the curbside check in, said our goodbyes, and headed to our gate. As we were walking up, they had just finished boarding families so I had to wait a bit while other people boarded but it wasn't bad. We headed straight to the back of the plane, hoping the flight wasn't full and we would have at least one empty seat next to us. We didn't get that lucky.

This was CeCe's first flight so I really had no idea what to expect. I felt mostly prepared to handle whatever she would throw at me. I had packed plenty of snacks, activities, and medicine in case her ears bothered her. We had one stop to make in El Paso on the way but we didn't have to change planes. The first leg, CeCe was pretty busy. This was all new to her so she wanted to check everything out. She walked up the entire aisle to the front of the plane and back once, wiggled in my lap, and walked around the flight attendant's area. After the first stop, she got a little tired, and even though she never fell asleep, she just sat in my lap and let me hold her. Once we landed in San Diego and we were waiting for the passengers to unload, I turned to the flight attendant and thanked her for letting us be all in their way the entire time. She knew it was CeCe's first trip so she gave her a set of wings as a keepsake!

We got off the plane and headed toward baggage claim. The whole walk there, I felt myself getting really emotional but was trying to hold it back. But as soon as we rounded the corner and saw Erin and Reagan, I couldn't hold it anymore. All of the excitement, anticipation, and nerves got to me and I just felt so relieved that we had made it! We got our bags, loaded up and left the airport!

It was about 10am California time and we knew nap time for CeCe was coming up. I thought I was going to be so tired after the flight but I actually felt really good and energized. We decided to drive thru In-N-Out Burger (a must stop in California) and take it home so we could relax a little and let the girls play.

After naps, we took them to a park down the street. CeCe wasn't sure about the sand and never would walk on it barefoot. I either had to hold her or she wore her shoes. But she mostly stayed on the concrete or played in the grassy field next to the playground.

That night, Erin cooked dinner and we waited for Darrin to get home. He was taking a red eye flight out to Florida for the St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training. We had some time to kill before he headed out, so after dinner Darrin came up with the idea to take the girls for a wagon ride. It was such a nice night and the girls loved it!

Once Erin left to take Darrin to the airport, I headed for bed. It was a long day :)
