I've been following this blog for a while now and it makes me wish I had the creativity and talent to do what she (Holly) does.
Holly has a shop called White Berry Reinvented where she sells furniture she refinishes. And also custom refinishes furniture for her clients. Most everything is painted in white and then distressed, which is the style I have grown to love and hope to have in my house some day. I have at least 6 pieces now that I would love to have done. But, that seems to be my reality these days is to hope and wish for things and do nothing about them. Unfortunately, Holly is in Canada so that is not an option for me. And, every now and then I tell myself that "I could totally do that...no problem". But who am I kidding? I wouldn't even know where to start and where in the world would I find the time to actually get it done?
So anyone want to take on this task for me? Or tell me what to do in case I somehow come across a hidden talent (and desire) that it would take to make it happen?!?
Anybody?

Sleeping Beauty
Last night I stayed up way too late catching up on a friend's blog (no wonder I'm so tired right?!?). Just before I decided to finally go to sleep, I decided to go check on CeCe to make sure the temperature was ok in her room. A cold front had come through earlier in the day so we had to turn the heater on. And I'm always a little extra cautious about making the temperature just right when the heater is on.
It's so funny to us because for the longest time, she wanted nothing to do with anything on her feet. It was a battle to keep shoes on her. Now she will walk around all day with shoes on while we're home. She still doesn't like having them on while we're in the car.
I think it's great that she likes her shoes now but I have a feeling it will eventually turn into a very expensive love!

Need Sleep!
With my school schedule and track season in full swing, the Allen family stays pretty busy. There are times when Josh works 6-7 days a week with several 14+ hour days. There have been a few times when he hasn't been able to spend time with CeCe for a couple of days in a row and she does not like it. He'll call during the day to say hi and even though she's been fine all day, as soon as she gets on the phone with him, she starts crying and whining. I guess that's her way of saying that she misses him.
This semester I am taking 2 education classes. For one of them, I have been working on completing 55 hours of observations. And, I'm very happy (and relieved) to say that as of yesterday, I AM DONE!! YAY!! I have been fortunate enough to have my mom come in town and watch CeCe while I'm at the school. She has been such a lifesaver (and moneysaver)! There is no way that I would have been able to do it without her. Besides the benefit of not having to put CeCe in a daycare, it has been really great having my mom around! CeCe and her 'nannna' (nannie) have been able to spend so much time together. She's at the age now where she can remember people and is starting to apply names to faces. After nannie left, CeCe would say her name and hold her hands up, like where's Nannie? I'm so glad she has a lot of family around her to spend time with!
These past couple of weeks have been super exhausting. One night this week, CeCe was tossing and turning and I could hear it in the monitor. So it kept me up most of the night and I had to get up the next day to go observe. Then Josh had a late night being at a track meet so I waited up for him to get home, (District Champs.....woohoo!) then started all over again the next morning. So by the time I got home yesterday, I was beat. My mom left and we decided to go out to eat. I told Josh that I might have to go to bed as soon as we got home. I lied down on the couch and fell asleep before CeCe even went to bed. Then I moved to our bedroom and slept the entire night (without waking up once.....unusual these days). I didn't wake up until 9:30 or so this morning (thanks to my sweet hubby for letting me sleep in)! It was soooooo nice. I feel like a new person. I got caught up on laundry and organized CeCe's room and clothes, something I've been working on for weeks now. I actually know where things are, instead of having to look 2 or 3 places before finding it first. Pretty amazing!
Tomorrow, Josh is off so we are making it a lazy Sunday....until the craziness starts back up again next week.

Moms & Tots
Dallas Child's blog, Child(ish), posts daily articles called "What to Do Today," and it features events that are going on in the area that you can do with your kiddos. I subscribe to it so I get the email daily. Well in today's, the McKinney Community Center was having a Moms and Tots Open Gym so I decided to take CeCe to check it out. They had tons of kid-friendly gym equipment and toys for them to play with. She had such a fun time playing with all of the toys and other kids! They put this on every 1st and 4th Tuesday of the month until the end of May! I can't wait to take her back. And for $1, you can't beat it! Thanks McKinney :)

Easter Egg Hunt
CeCe was old enough this year to get to experience her first Easter Egg Hunt. City of McKinney had their annual Eggstravaganza going on so we decided to attend. They had a petting zoo, pony rides, train rides, bounce houses, prize giveaways and 'egg grabs' for three different age groups. My mom joined CeCe and I and my sister and her family met us up there.
We started out by waiting in the line for the petting zoo while my mom stood in the pony ride line. CeCe got to pet some baby pigs, a tortoise, rabbits, ducks, and goats!
After the pony ride, we made our way over to the 'egg grab.' CeCe wasn't much of a scavenger, though, and only got two eggs. She was more interested in what was inside!

Playing Outside
With the weather being as nice as it has been, CeCe has been wanting to be outside all the time. She loves climbing on everything and sliding down both slides we have outside. She has also began to enjoy swinging. Before now, she would just cry the whole time I had her in it. Now she likes the toddler swing as well as the regular swing. She got so relaxed that she almost fell asleep! Tony likes it when we go outside too, because he doesn't have to be out there by himself!
