Happy 1st Birthday Bradie!

Since we were headed to East Tx for Ms. Bradie Batson's 1st Birthday party, we decided to make the most of it! We left for Josh's aunt and uncle's house yesterday afternoon. Once we got there, we had some dinner and then went into town to have ice cream at one of the local ice cream shops. I had a fresh peach sundae that was delish! CeCe shared some banana ice cream with Josh's aunt. After that, we headed back home so that we could get on the boat for a nice sunset cruise. C loves going out on the boat. Josh and I have to sit on opposite sides because she likes to see everything from every possible angle on the boat. We got back just in time to get C in the bath and put her to bed.

This morning, we had originally planned to pick fresh blueberries at Blueberry Hill Farms but ended up just buying some they had already picked because it was too hot and we were ready for breakfast. We ate at our favorite hot spot, Edom Bakery & Grill. This time we tried the breakfast buffet which was wonderful and very filling!

After breakfast, we left Edom and made our trek to Mabank for the party. It was at Lee's (Bradie's daddy) family's lake house. It was such a gorgeous day! We were in the shade and there was a nice breeze. C played in the kiddie pool and with the sprinkler most of the time with her bf, Maverick!

Cake time came and Bradie did not disappoint! She took a few bites, face planting a couple times, but mostly she would grab it with her hands and throw it down on the ground to the side of her. She even shared her cake with mommy and daddy...such a sweet girl!

We had to leave right after cake to get ready for our Taos trip. We leave tomorrow morning...a whole week without our little girl. Should be fun and relaxing but I know we'll miss her.

Happy FIRST Birthday Bradie Batson :)

Splash Park

Today, we had originally planned to have another play date with Mav & Bradie but Bradie came down with tonsillitis a few days ago and was still recovering from that. So I decided to pick my sister (Angela), niece (Miranda) and nephew (Riley) up and take them to the Splash Park in Forney. This was our first time to go to this one. We wanted to get there early to beat the heat but the splash park didn't open until 10am. And it seems like that would still be early enough, but it was already burning hot, so we only stayed for about an hour. CeCe headed straight for the playground to swing and slide so I had to make her come over to the water so we could both stay cool. It was fun and I think everyone had a great time!

Father's Day

Unfortunately, Josh had to work today so we just had the morning to spend family time together. We took Josh to IHOP for a pancake breakfast. We both love the Harvest Grain 'n Nut pancakes there. We got there just in time to beat the Father's Day rush. After breakfast, we headed home so Josh could open his presents. We had some pictures of his cross country and track seasons framed, had the picture of his first father's day with CeCe framed, and got him a complete set of car washing supplies (so he can keep his new ride nice and clean). I also got us tickets to tour the Cowboy Stadium, but haven't found time to go yet, but hopefully soon.

Wishing the best daddy a Happy Second Father's Day! We can't be more blessed and thankful to have such a fun, loving, and hard working man in our lives to share each day with. Your girls love you so much.

Play Date

Today, Carrie & Bradie and April & Maverick came over to our house for a play date. We sat around and talked while the babies played inside for a bit. Then my sweet husband went to chick-fil-a and brought us back some lunch. After lunch, we took the kiddos outside to play in the water. We had a tiny pool set up with a slide in it, an Elmo sprinkler, and the playground...our own mini splash water park.

CeCe wasn't up to getting in the water at first so she hung out by this tree for a bit. This is the first time she had given this tree any kind of attention so not sure what her fascination with it was about today. Then she had to go swing with daddy for a while.

Meanwhile, Mav and Bradie immediately got into the pool and had fun on the slide.

Then in the sprinkler! No fear :)

After playing outside, we brought them in and put them in the bath together!

It was such a fun day. We look forward to these play dates all summer long!

Summer Schedule

I think we have managed to completely book up this entire summer. Such a crazy busy schedule. And I doubt it will be slowing down any time soon...probaby never. Josh has not had a day off since school got out, except to attend Nana's funeral. He's been working at Luke's and also ran the Race for the Cure (placed 3rd overall!!). In the midst of the already packed schedule, we decided to sign C up for some summer activities.

So far, she has started the Tiny Tots class at the ASI Gymnastics in Allen and a Kindermusik class at the Frisco Athletic Center. Her first class for both of these required a lot of patience and understanding of the newness of everything on mine and Josh's part. Her attention span lasted no more than 2 seconds for each activity, and she was off to see what else there was to do. Our only saving grace was witnessing how behaved the other kids were after having been in the class(es) for a while.

I'm really excited about the Tiny Tots class. This is something she will continue to do once a week, even after the summer is over. The first class was a lot of fun even though it was so hectic! The gym was completely packed with other classes going on at the same time and tons of parents watching from the side. And it was so HOT in there. I'm not sure if that's because it's just like that with everything that is going on, or if it was because we were constantly running around chasing after C. But now I know to wear something cool and comfortable so hopefully that will get better.

They started off jumping on the trampoline. The kids each had to stay on their own trampoline and do different movements, like touch their head, knees, jump and turn, etc. Then they moved on to circle time where they played with instruments, sang songs, and learned to point their toes, sit in different positions, etc. Next up was the pit. They were to climb on to a rope swing and fall into the pit. C was a little apprehensive at first and never really picked up on how to tighten her legs around the rope but she loved falling into the pit and crawling out. After the pit, was running time. All of the kids sat on a mat with the instructor and were to race to their parent and back. Of course, Josh was all about this! CeCe can definitely run but had a hard time staying focused on where to run to, so they had to hold her hand and guide her most of the way. She kept wanting to separate from the group and check out the rest of the gym. The class finished up with learning/practicing front rolls, balance beams, and then going down the slide. Although it was a workout for Josh and I, we were really proud of CeCe and look forward to seeing her progress in this class.

I don't have any pictures of Kindermusik class but it was close to the same experience as Tiny Tots. We kept having to rope C back in to participate with the group. They sang songs, played with instruments, explored different movements and sounds, and practiced listening and sharing.

The schedule for the rest of the summer consists of this:
  • A weekend trip to East Tx to spend time with Josh's aunt and uncle, and then attending Bradie Batson's FIRST birthday party!
  • 2 weeks in Taos, NM for Cross Country camp. I am going along for one of the weeks while CeCe stays home (in good hands, clearly not alone!).
  • A weekend trip to Memphis, TN for a wedding that Josh is in.
  • 3 weeks of Staff Development/Training for Josh
  • Monday nights - Tiny Tots Class
  • Tuesday mornings - Kindermusik
  • Tuesday and Thursday mornings - Swim lessons for CeCe
  • Celebrating our 4th Wedding Anniversary
  • Josh working at Luke's Locker on 'off' days
  • Prenatal appointments and getting ready for Baby #2
Whew! That's a lot! I have a feeling this summer will go by faster than we would like!

Nana's Viewing

Tonight, we went to Nana's viewing. We took CeCe because we decided that it would be best to not bring her to the funeral tomorrow.

She got to see Nana and was so sweet. We told CeCe that Nana went 'night night' and that God was going to take care of her now. She kept wanting to give her hugs so we let her touch Nana's hands. She blew her kisses and put some flowers next to her that my mom brought. CeCe just kept saying 'Nana, night night' and told Nana she loved her.

I don't know how much of Nana CeCe will remember but I'm hoping that the pictures we have will show her how much Nana loved her and that she loved the time she had with her.

C looked so pretty in her dress tonight but wasn't up for taking pictures so this is all I was able to get!

In her short 75 years, Nana lived a great life! There were so many people there tonight and I can only imagine what tomorrow will be like. She was a great friend to so many and everyone that knew Nana loved her. She looked so beautiful tonight, all dolled up like she always was! We lay her to rest in the morning but the memories will forever be with us.
