Summer Schedule

I think we have managed to completely book up this entire summer. Such a crazy busy schedule. And I doubt it will be slowing down any time soon...probaby never. Josh has not had a day off since school got out, except to attend Nana's funeral. He's been working at Luke's and also ran the Race for the Cure (placed 3rd overall!!). In the midst of the already packed schedule, we decided to sign C up for some summer activities.

So far, she has started the Tiny Tots class at the ASI Gymnastics in Allen and a Kindermusik class at the Frisco Athletic Center. Her first class for both of these required a lot of patience and understanding of the newness of everything on mine and Josh's part. Her attention span lasted no more than 2 seconds for each activity, and she was off to see what else there was to do. Our only saving grace was witnessing how behaved the other kids were after having been in the class(es) for a while.

I'm really excited about the Tiny Tots class. This is something she will continue to do once a week, even after the summer is over. The first class was a lot of fun even though it was so hectic! The gym was completely packed with other classes going on at the same time and tons of parents watching from the side. And it was so HOT in there. I'm not sure if that's because it's just like that with everything that is going on, or if it was because we were constantly running around chasing after C. But now I know to wear something cool and comfortable so hopefully that will get better.

They started off jumping on the trampoline. The kids each had to stay on their own trampoline and do different movements, like touch their head, knees, jump and turn, etc. Then they moved on to circle time where they played with instruments, sang songs, and learned to point their toes, sit in different positions, etc. Next up was the pit. They were to climb on to a rope swing and fall into the pit. C was a little apprehensive at first and never really picked up on how to tighten her legs around the rope but she loved falling into the pit and crawling out. After the pit, was running time. All of the kids sat on a mat with the instructor and were to race to their parent and back. Of course, Josh was all about this! CeCe can definitely run but had a hard time staying focused on where to run to, so they had to hold her hand and guide her most of the way. She kept wanting to separate from the group and check out the rest of the gym. The class finished up with learning/practicing front rolls, balance beams, and then going down the slide. Although it was a workout for Josh and I, we were really proud of CeCe and look forward to seeing her progress in this class.

I don't have any pictures of Kindermusik class but it was close to the same experience as Tiny Tots. We kept having to rope C back in to participate with the group. They sang songs, played with instruments, explored different movements and sounds, and practiced listening and sharing.

The schedule for the rest of the summer consists of this:
  • A weekend trip to East Tx to spend time with Josh's aunt and uncle, and then attending Bradie Batson's FIRST birthday party!
  • 2 weeks in Taos, NM for Cross Country camp. I am going along for one of the weeks while CeCe stays home (in good hands, clearly not alone!).
  • A weekend trip to Memphis, TN for a wedding that Josh is in.
  • 3 weeks of Staff Development/Training for Josh
  • Monday nights - Tiny Tots Class
  • Tuesday mornings - Kindermusik
  • Tuesday and Thursday mornings - Swim lessons for CeCe
  • Celebrating our 4th Wedding Anniversary
  • Josh working at Luke's Locker on 'off' days
  • Prenatal appointments and getting ready for Baby #2
Whew! That's a lot! I have a feeling this summer will go by faster than we would like!

I loved the video of her running! So cute and funny! We started Parker in Tiny Tots back in March...and since summer started...it has been a lot busier in there. Looks like she is having a great time!!

And no....I don't think it will ever slow down! :)
