We (really just me) are not ready for potty training, but we went ahead and bought a potty for CeCe. We kept it in the box for the longest time before we opened it. I just sat it in the living room to see how she would react to it. It was never anything I was ready to push, because like I said, I am not really ready for all of this.
It is a huge transition and although it would be nice to save on buying diapers, I feel like they are so much easier. I don't look forward to the days when we have to make sure she goes potty every 30 minutes and/or before we have to leave, when she decides that she has to potty when we're in the car and Vivi is asleep, when we're in a store and we have to experience a public restroom for the first time, and so on.
All of that said, I've never kept CeCe from trying it when she wants to and I really do plan on going through the whole training thing this summer when I have an extended period of time to work on it with her. She's sat on it many of times without doing anything. And every time, we go through the entire motion of wiping, flushing (clean) toilet paper, and praising her (for not doing anything).
On May 1, she said she wanted to go potty and I told her I would give her a piece of candy if she went pee pee. Sure enough, she sat down and went pee pee. I was a little shocked and then got very happy. I even teared up, I was so proud of her. She got her candy and acted like it was no big deal.
Since then, I have continued to not push it. Yesterday, I was cleaning and hanging some clothes up in her room. She told me she wanted to go pee pee and so I just told her ok and went on with what I was doing. She picked up her potty and brought it her room where I was, sat down and went poo poo. Again, I was completely shocked and just began to praise her. We took it in the bathroom, dumped it, washed hands, and then I gave her a piece of candy. We went back in the room, continued cleaning, and she sat down again and went pee pee. I could not believe it. I thought, wow, maybe she's really ready to get this going. After we cleaned everything up, I asked her if she was ready to wear big girl panties or if she still liked wearing her diapers. She told me she wanted to wear her panties.
This was all just before nap time so I put her in her diaper and went on with the rest of the day like normal. Today, I slept in and Josh said she went pee pee and poo poo again today. This afternoon, I put her in panties and we ended up with a mess on our hands.
We are definitely getting closer but I have to decide if I want to go ahead and start it and let the school take most of the responsibility during the day, or just wait until this summer. In the mean time, I will begin to mentally prepare myself for this huge transition and milestone. My little girl is growing up so fast!

Pee Pee on the Potty :)

Vivienne ~ 6 months
This was a HUGE month for milestones.
Vivi started crawling (actually it was a few days before she turned 6 months). She seems to be on the same track as CeCe with her gross motor skills. She definitely gets that from her daddy's side of the family!
We started solid foods. My name for her is 'my little chunker girl' because she does not stop eating. So far there is nothing she hasn't liked. She's had peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach and potatoes, vegetable medley, yogurt, apples, bananas, pears, strawberries.
We also started her on snacks. So far we've only done Puffs and cheerios. And she loves it. It's been a huge help when we go out. We can hold her attention much longer when we are out by giving her something to nibble on.
Her sleeping schedule (or lack there of) was another thing we tackled. Up to this point, Vivi was still waking up 3 times at night. She would go to sleep about 8pm, wake up at 11pm, then 3am, and then 5am. We decided to start letting her cry it out for both the 11pm and 3am awakenings, and that stopped after a few days. Whew! Since then, we have pushed the 5am to 6am. She still wakes up a little before 6, but we don't get her up until it's at least 6. This is MUCH better than it was.
On the same note, Vivi's "room" is now our closet. There was one night that she woke up around 3 am and starting crying. Josh and I about had it at that point and in the wee hours of the morning, half asleep, moved her bed in the closet and it's been there ever since. Although it isn't ideal and we can still hear her if she wakes up, there is a lot more space between us and it is much more peaceful.
Since Vivi is more mobile now, she and CeCe have so much more fun together. It is so fun seeing them interact with each other. Vivi is much better in the car than CeCe ever was and I have to think that it is because CeCe is there to help entertain her. If she gets fussy, CeCe will sing and Vivi will stop and listen. She gets her to giggle a lot too. I love watching these girls love each other.

toy story 3 on ice
some time last year, disney's mickey and friends on ice show came through the area and i didn't know about until after it had already left. i was so upset because i knew that it would have been such a fun thing to take cece to. so, the second i found out about toy story 3 on ice coming to town, i was on a mission to get tickets.
cece has all 3 toy story dvd's and has loved them since the first time she saw the first one on tv. and i can count on only one hand how many days that have gone by that we have NOT watched at least one of them. she's seen them so many times that she can now recite the lines. she has woody and buzz dolls and blankets and wants to carry them around every where we go.
we could not wait for the day! we decided not to tell her where we were going until right before we left. she does not do well knowing things in advance. we decided to drive to dallas and ride the dart rail to avoid the traffic and high parking fees. and we thought cece would enjoy it.
we made it! we had about 30 minutes before the show started so we took our time getting to our seats. we grabbed a foot long hot dog to share and stopped to look at all of the toys for sale.

during intermission, we hightailed it to the line to get a picture with buzz and woody. while we waited, cece danced like they did in the show!
we all had a wonderful time. the show was amazing. cece did awesome. she started to get tired toward the end and started to cry saying "i want woody, i want jessie." it was the weirdest and funniest thing. she was reaching out her arms wanting them to hold her. we knew she was about done.
although the train ride over wasn't bad, we decided we would never do that again. we will gladly pay the extra few dollars to drive and park. the wait for the train afterward was way too long. we ended up having josh's dad pick us up and take us to our car. it was a good experience for cece, but not again.
every day since the show, cece has said how she wants to go see them again and she names out every toy. it's so fun now that she's old enough to take her to things like this. we look forward to the next time.
