Surprise!

For a long time, Josh has been talking about wanting to go to the NCAA Cross Country Championship meet. Even more so now that his college coach from Tech (now coaching at Oklahoma State) has a team there every year and has a good chance to win. It comes up near the end of November and last year was out because CeCe was due to arrive anytime. This year it was understood that going would not be an option because it falls on her first birthday.

After going to OSU country for a cross country meet earlier in the season and just knowing how much Josh loves this sport and that CeCe's birthday would actually be celebrated the weekend before, not on the actual day, I started thinking about how I could make it happen for him. I started putting everything together in October and with the help of his coach, Dave Smith, I got it done and it was booked...the flight, the rental car, the hotel, etc. All without Josh knowing anything about it....and keeping it that way for almost two months.

My plan all along was to tell him today, at CeCe's birthday party, a day before he leaves! I put his itinerary inside a birthday card and had him open it at the end of CeCe opening her presents thinking it was another card for her. And boy was he shocked! It took him a minute to figure it out. After the confusion passed and he realized what it was and that he was going, there was a big smile that I had been anticipating for a long time now.

I love surprises and I have to admit, I did a pretty good job!

UPDATE ~ November 23 - Josh went and a great year to go it was! OSU are NCAA Champions! I'm so happy he was there to experience it in person!

As you know, you are blessed with such a generous and caring wife; beauty and brains. what more could you ask. Jess loves you so much and you both together, wow, can't get any better than that.
LOOK OUT WORLD......
God bless and bestow on you all the blessings of a precious life together; you hold each other up, and four hands become one; and then there's Cece. What can you say about Perfection? Just that, she's the icing on the cake.
love you all soooo much,
nannie mom
