San Diego - Day 3 - First Time at the Beach

We thought we'd get the girls out early so we headed over to Coronado to grab some breakfast and then hit the beach. We found this cute cafe down the street from the beach and ate outside on their 'patio.' It was such a gorgeous morning and perfect timing to head down to the water. We parked by some beach volleyball courts so it was a long trek down to the water but we made it. CeCe would not walk in the sand barefoot (once again) and wasn't so sure about the whole beach thing so she was a bit clingy. Her curiosity and need for adventure got the best of her though and she did want to get down and try it. She did really good, but was just very cautious. Reagan, on the other hand, was all about getting down and dirty. She was head to toe in sand and loved every minute of it. We stayed until it was about time for the girls to get their naps and then headed home. CeCe slept pretty much the whole way back. She was worn out!

After naps, we got the girls changed, and thought we'd try again at the shopping thing. But this time Erin's friend, Tache, came along for the ride. We went to the nearby border mall. Tache helped with the girls and we were actually able to leave with some things.

Another great day in San Diego!

San Diego - Day 2 - Shopping

We headed out to Eastlake's outdoor shopping center! Our first stop was to eat lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. The girls shared some chicken and macaroni and cheese, and Erin and I shared a pizza. After lunch, we got the girls loaded up in their strollers and made our way to the first store, H&M. Little did we know at the time that it would be our only shopping stop. The girls were just not in the mood to relax in their strollers while us moms looked around. So we let them just walk around outside on the sidewalk. After we (me) got tired of chasing the girls around (CeCe) we made a bathroom stop then headed over to the Nestle shop for some cookies and ice cream. We had to call it a day after that. But it was fun and it was such a great day to go because it was so nice outside and the shopping center wasn't crowded at all.

That night, while the girls were playing, Erin set out their ottoman tops/trays to let the girls play on them. CeCe got on her 'tapping shoes' and her and Reagan danced to the music! It was so cute!

San Diego - Day 1 - We have arrived!

Our flight was at 8:30am so we got up, woke CeCe up, and headed to the airport. I wanted to get there with enough time to get through security but not with so much time that we would have to wait to board the plane. We utilized the curbside check in, said our goodbyes, and headed to our gate. As we were walking up, they had just finished boarding families so I had to wait a bit while other people boarded but it wasn't bad. We headed straight to the back of the plane, hoping the flight wasn't full and we would have at least one empty seat next to us. We didn't get that lucky.

This was CeCe's first flight so I really had no idea what to expect. I felt mostly prepared to handle whatever she would throw at me. I had packed plenty of snacks, activities, and medicine in case her ears bothered her. We had one stop to make in El Paso on the way but we didn't have to change planes. The first leg, CeCe was pretty busy. This was all new to her so she wanted to check everything out. She walked up the entire aisle to the front of the plane and back once, wiggled in my lap, and walked around the flight attendant's area. After the first stop, she got a little tired, and even though she never fell asleep, she just sat in my lap and let me hold her. Once we landed in San Diego and we were waiting for the passengers to unload, I turned to the flight attendant and thanked her for letting us be all in their way the entire time. She knew it was CeCe's first trip so she gave her a set of wings as a keepsake!

We got off the plane and headed toward baggage claim. The whole walk there, I felt myself getting really emotional but was trying to hold it back. But as soon as we rounded the corner and saw Erin and Reagan, I couldn't hold it anymore. All of the excitement, anticipation, and nerves got to me and I just felt so relieved that we had made it! We got our bags, loaded up and left the airport!

It was about 10am California time and we knew nap time for CeCe was coming up. I thought I was going to be so tired after the flight but I actually felt really good and energized. We decided to drive thru In-N-Out Burger (a must stop in California) and take it home so we could relax a little and let the girls play.

After naps, we took them to a park down the street. CeCe wasn't sure about the sand and never would walk on it barefoot. I either had to hold her or she wore her shoes. But she mostly stayed on the concrete or played in the grassy field next to the playground.

That night, Erin cooked dinner and we waited for Darrin to get home. He was taking a red eye flight out to Florida for the St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training. We had some time to kill before he headed out, so after dinner Darrin came up with the idea to take the girls for a wagon ride. It was such a nice night and the girls loved it!

Once Erin left to take Darrin to the airport, I headed for bed. It was a long day :)

Riley's 3rd Birthday Party

My nephew celebrated his birthday at Going Bonkers in Lewisville, Tx. Last time we went there, CeCe hadn 't quite started to walk yet so she wasn't able to do much. This time she was all over the place. It was pretty crowded so she stuck to the slide in the toddler area. And then later we took her upstairs to the arcades to let her walk around and look at all of the games! It was a great day :)

15 Month Check-Up

Once again, we went back up to see CeCe's doctor but this time it was for her 15 month check up. While we were there we had her ears checked again. Although, her right ear looked a little better, the infection wasn't gone. So after 2, 10 day medications, we have one more to try. This time it's only for 3 days. I'm so glad it's not another 10 day one. It's such a beating having to remember to give her medicine for that long. Let's hope this works!

Here are CeCe's 15 month stats:

Height: 31 1/4 in
Weight: 21.6 lbs
Head: 47 cm

She is gaining weight, just at a slow pace. She has consistently had a dip in her weight percentage since her 12 month checkup. I think she is in the 25-35th percentile. The doctor said this is pretty normal especially since CeCe started walking at 10 months and has stayed pretty active. I know she is going to be petite. It's the same way with my niece and my sisters and I were always pretty slim growing up. Everything else is in the 75th percentile. She does need to get some vaccinations but since she's been having so many problems with her ears, we decided to wait until all of those were gone so that her immune system isn't having to fight so much at once. Hopefully I can say that there are no more ear infections soon!

CeCe in action

Laughing! Such a silly girl :)

Talking on her phone! She's definitely an Allen!

Still sick...

A couple of weeks ago, CeCe finished off a round of antibiotics for her double ear infections. That following week, she started to run a low grade fever off and on and kept touching her ear so I took her back to the doctor for a check up. Sure enough she still had an infection in her right ear. She is on her second antibiotic and her last day to take that is tomorrow. She has her 15 month well visit tomorrow so I'm hoping for good news that the infection is gone. It's seems like she has been sick for months now...well probably because she has. She has constantly had something going on with her. At the very least she has had a constant runny nose, which is no fun. We've gone through 4 boxes of tissues in just a couple of weeks. I feel like there is nothing more we can do for this girl. She was on a small dose of benadryl to help dry her nose up, has taken motrin at night for the pain from her ear infections, nasal saline, chest rub, and has a humidifier going while she sleeps. We've done everything we can possibly do for her at this age. So I'm just praying that God will calm this weather down a bit and give us some consistency. Temps in the 60's would be nice but I'll take 50's at this point. I hope that Spring will bring better health!

I'll leave you with some recent pictures of our sweet girl!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Snow Day

We had such a great time playing in the snow! CeCe wasn't completely sure about it. She didn't like to walk in it very much but she did good. Our neighbor came by to invite us over a little later to help build snow forts. CeCe went down for a nap so Josh and I went over and helped. It was a lot of fun and our neighbors are so sweet and wonderful! They have welcomed us with open arms!

We enjoyed our once in a lifetime snow day in Texas!

Don't we have the cutest little snow bunny ever?!?
